South Africa

South Africa is an unique and amazing place to live and volunteer with Project Trust. Though one of the wealthiest and best known nations on the African continent, there remains a huge wealth inequality following decades of apartheid. Communities embody the meaning of the rainbow nation, coming together to work towards a brighter future for all, and warmly welcome you as a Volunteer and an asset to their projects. You will get the opportunity to get off the well worn backpacking trails and truly immerse yourself in a community exploring it’s unique and rich culture, traditions and celebrations.

Volunteering in South Africa with Project Trust offers meaningful opportunities to contribute to teaching and social care projects that make a genuine impact. Whether you’re assisting in a classroom, supporting children and young people with additional needs, or helping with extra curricular activities, your work directly supports and empowers young people through education and care. Volunteers often form strong bonds with students, staff, and families, leaving a lasting impact while gaining valuable life skills and a deepened sense of cultural understanding.

Be a mentor and role model for young people who have had a difficult start in life and help deliver informal education.

Work alongside experienced professional carers to support young people with a range of different needs to provide person centred care.

You will need a strong work ethic to support trained instructors to deliver experiential teaching through a range of outdoor pursuits.
