Volunteering Opportunities
We offer three types of international volunteering placement, designed to give young people greater choice and flexibility while continuing to meet the needs of our partner organisations around the world.
Each of our country programmes offers a different experience, with opportunities varying by placement type, project and time of year. Whether you’re looking for a full year of immersion or a shorter experience that fits around university, work or other commitments, you can find a Project Trust placement that works for you.
Whichever you choose, you’ll live and volunteer within a local community, make a meaningful contribution and gain skills, confidence and perspectives that stay with you long after you return home.
Immersive Placement
All In, Roots Deep, Grow Strong.
Go beyond visiting and truly become part of a community. Live and volunteer internationally, building lasting relationships and completely immersing yourself in a different culture. With time to travel and explore, it’s a year of meaningful impact, connection and personal growth.
Time Scale: Approx. 10–12 months
Travel Periods: 6 weeks+
Departure Season: Summer (August/September)

Focused Placement
Dive in, Engage, Flourish.
Make your time count with a purposeful international experience. Develop valuable skills whilst volunteering and embrace a new culture, while still having opportunities for travel and adventure. A more focused commitment with plenty of time to delve into your host community and explore your host country.
Time Scale: Approx. 6-8 months
Travel Periods: 4 weeks+
Departure Season: Winter (January), Summer (August/September)

Discovery Placement
Discover, Explore, Develop.
Discover what international volunteering can offer in just a few months. Experience everyday life in another culture, contribute to a local community and challenge yourself to build new skills somewhere completely new. Ideal for fitting around university, work or other commitments.
Time Scale: Approx. 3-4 months
Travel Periods: 2 weeks+
Departure Season: Summer (August/September), Winter (January), Spring (May/June)

Project Trust launched me on a journey that has led to an exciting and rewarding career in international development. Teaching in a rural community in Zimbabwe in the late ’80s ignited my passion for Africa and global development. Decades later, it’s heartening to see that Project Trust continues to offer young people the chance to explore the world and discover themselves.
