How It Works

Volunteering with Project Trust is a challenge and adventure. The first step on your journey is to apply online and take part in our online Selection process.

Fundraising to support your placement abroad provides an opportunity to learn and develop skills for life.

Before heading off on your international placement, you will attend a residential Training Course, preparing you for the specifics of the country and placement you are going to.

You will spend up to 12 months volunteering in Africa, Asia or Latin America. The challenges and experiences you face will provide a unique opportunity to learn about the wider world as well as discovering more about yourself.

On your return, our residential Debriefing Course gives you the opportunity to reflect on your experiences and to celebrate your achievements.

Through living abroad, you will develop a deeper understanding of the wider world and will become part of our global network of Returned Volunteers.

Project Trust has been organising volunteering placements since 1967, making us the UK’s most experienced educational charity specialising in international volunteering for young people. Our structured placements offer young people the opportunity to learn and grow with support as needed.

“The unique experience of becoming a valued figure in a community, in a place you grow to love, was the highlight of my experience abroad. Like most Volunteers, I came away with a second home and an amazing life-changing year.”
