Don Bosco Poipet

You will be working in a catholic charity called Don Bosco, set up to support vulnerable children and young people.

Your Project

Your project is in Poipet, a town on the Cambodia-Thailand border, with a charity that has a wide remit to support young people from very disadvantaged backgrounds DON BOSCO – 1 to12 & Technical High School Poipet (donboscopoipet.org).

Don Bosco Poipet opened it’s doors in 2002 and currently has 547 students, 80 of the students are borders living on-site. Alongside the traditional educational program from grade 1 to 12 the school offers various programs such as technical courses in Electrical and Computer Skills, a scholarship program known as children fund, and boarding for poorer students.

Your work at the project is split between supporting the students who live on site, and supporting the English department. Your role will in include English teaching, assisting with homework, and providing support with after school sports and extracurricular activities. You will be expected act as a strong and positive role model to the students as well as take initiative to draw on your own interests, skills and experience to design activities that will engage and enrich the experience of the students and borders.

You will be living in the school, you will have a shared room. Your food will be provided by the school and you will be eating with other volunteers, college staff and pupils. Project Trust will provide a monthly allowance for other incidentals.
