Mitchell House

In 2006, Mitchell House established the Enrichment Centre within the school grounds to offer young pupils with a range of physical and cognitive disabilities the opportunities afforded to mainstream students. This was achieved through the development of a more integrated approach to learning and growth.

The Enrichment Centre Programme offers individualised education programmes for each child. The curriculum is based on the National Curriculum but ultimately it is created and implemented according to the needs of the learners.

You will be working with small classes of learners alongside the class teacher and two teaching assistants. Inclusion will be a guiding principle of your work at Mitchell house as many of the pupils at the Enrichment Centre take part in a range of activities at the school. Likewise, considerable focus of lessons will be placed on activities to develop life skills for employment and the transition to independent living.

Your accommodation is provided by Mitchell House and you will live on the school grounds. You will have your own room in a building which houses the boarding students. Your meals will be provided and you will eat in the school canteen. You will also receive a living allowance for Mitchell House. .
