Kpohega Basic School

You will be teaching at Kpohega Basic School, located in Gefia, just outside of Akatsi in the Volta region of Ghana. 

Your Project

You will be teaching English as well as other subjects like Maths, ICT, Science, and running extra-curricular clubs. This primary school has limited facilities, but an active and interested staff team. You will need to use your initiative and energy to support the learning of the students in your community. 

The school was established in 1988 and currently has 90 students from 4-18 years old. The students come from the local farming communities. With the primary school, taking on classes can mean quite a variety of things, depending on your interests and the needs of the students. Basic literacy is a challenge for the younger students, with both English and Ewe spoken in the classroom. Extracurricular activities are strongly encouraged.

This is a new and exciting project that will demand dedication, initiative, and creativity. 

Accommodation

You will live in a house close to the school. Living conditions will be basic; you will collect your water from a borehole and use a long-drop toilet. Electricity is generally available.

Your living allowance is provided by Project Trust and will cover your daily living costs
