Kobokan

You will be teaching at Kobokan Community Centre located in a northern district of Tokyo called Oji. 

Your Project

You will be volunteering for the Kobokan Community Centre in Sumida ward of Tokyo. It is described as a settlement house that deals with welfare issues in the local community.

Your main role will be to support the full-time staff with various activities. These will include working in the afterschool club for elementary school children, helping in the nursery and children’s home. There will also be an opportunity to get involved the preparation and delivery of an annual Summer camp.

Sumida is in the north-eastern part of the mainland portion of Tokyo. Sumida is one of Tokyo’s most fascinating neighbourhoods. Nowhere is the contrast between old Edo and Japan’s thirst for modernity as stark as it is here. The opportunity to live in this internationally acclaimed area is a unique one.

Accommodation

You and your partner on site, you will be accommodated with the community centre and will have your meals provided.
