Huaiyuan School

This will be the first time that Project Trust has worked with Huaiyuan School and the staff are very excited about welcoming our Volunteers.

Your Project

Volunteers will assist students during classes with English oral practice, vocabulary, grammar, and after school reading clubs. There will also be opportunities to engage with sporting and other extracurricular activities.

Xichang has a monsoon-influenced humid subtropical climate, giving it a Spring-like feel all round and attracting many visitors. Popular local sites are Mt. Luoji (including hot springs), Qionghai Lake, Mt. Lushan, and Lingshan Temple.

Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture has the largest concentration of the Yi ethnic group, famed for their terraced fields, and love of music, dancing and festivals. In most Yi areas, corn, buckwheat, and potatoes are the staple food. Meat including beef, pork, mutton, and chicken are eaten. The meat of dogs, horses, snakes, and frogs are forbidden.

With Xichang Satellite Launch Center 40 miles away, Xichang is sometime referred to as ‘Space City’. Transport links are good, including Xichang Qingshan Airport, Xichang Railway Station and G5 Beijing–Kunming Expressway.

Accommodation

Volunteers will live on campus in high standard accommodation, with separate rooms. Meals are provided by the on-site canteen.
