Kep Gardens

You will be working at a community development project called Kep Gardens, a to enable rural youth to gain employment.

Your Project

Your project is located in a little village a few kilometers from the coastal town of Kep, 30 minutes from the old colonial capital of Kampot. Read more about Kep Gardens at their website or Facebook page.

Kep Gardens encompasses an Education Centre, Trade Centre and Career Students programme. The Education Centre has been running since 2008, running 11 classes from Monday to Friday for 47 weeks of the year. Yearly enrolments are around 330 with a substantial waiting list, students’ ages range from 5 years old to mature adults.

You will be expected to get deliver and assist classes at the Education Centre School to deliver fun and engaging English lessons. You will also have the opportunity to support students who need assistance and practice conversing in English,. Other activities that volunteers can get involved with in and out of the classroom includes reading, sports (such as volleyball or soccer), music, art, and debate club. In addition to assistance in classrooms there are plenty of other options, especially with sports and crafts that can be done for volunteers who are proactive and identify opportunities to incorporate their own strengths and interests.

Accommodation

You will be living on-site at Kep Gardens, you will have a shared room with access to a bathroom and shower. You will cook for yourself in a typical outdoor Cambodian kitchen.
