Denvar School for the Blind

You will be working in the Devnar School for the Blind, in the southern city of Hydrabad, Teleganana.

Your Project

This residential school has a school role of 645 students between the ages of 5-22. It is run by a charitable organisation that helps students with visual impairments get into work and higher education. It is a warm and caring community and past Volunteers have had a really rewarding experience.

our main role will involve teaching conversational English, leading games, storytelling, reading sessions, and organizing various extracurricular activities. You will spend time engaging with the children, supporting their social development, and helping them interact with others. Additionally, you will assist qualified professionals in providing care and support to residents with significant physical and mental needs.

The school is situated on a large site in the centre of the city. There are ongoing building projects to improve and expand the facilities for residents and staff. https://devnarfoundationfortheblind.org

As a Volunteer, your energy, enthusiasm, and empathy will be key to your success. There are many different areas where you can contribute – whether it’s supporting the Braille library, helping in the dining room, or teaching dance to the children. Devnar is a vibrant, lively environment where students are encouraged to build confidence and develop their self-esteem.

Accommodation

You and your partner will live on site in accommodation provided by the school, which will consist of a shared room and bathroom. You will have all your meals provided at the school and will receive a monthly Living Allowance from Project Trust to cover any other essentials. .
