Times Medium School, Kottapakonda
You will be working at Times Medium School, a rural school operated by a charitable organisation called the Samraksha Society.
Your Project
Established in 1992, the organization initially focused on providing education for disadvantaged girls and women.
You’ll be living in a beautiful area of Andhra Pradesh, close to temples and a scenic hilly pilgrimage site. The closest town is called Narasaraopet.
The school has students between the ages of 3 – 12 years old, providing nursery and primary education for children in the local area.
Your main role will be providing English language lessons for students in the primary school, usually along side the qualified staff. There will also be opportunities to get involved with extra curricular activities including dance, music and drama. As a Volunteer your energy and enthusiasm to support these clubs, as well manage your classes, will be really valued. There is also a residential hostel on site for 18 – 23 year old past students who are studying college courses nearby which provides a good opportunity for you to mix with other young people.
Accommodation
You and your partner will be living on site in a small apartment with a shared bedroom and bathroom, with a western toilet and shower. Your host, who lives above you will provide your main meals. You will receive a monthly Living Allowance from Project Trust to cover any other essentials.
