Your Project

You will join Yenne Kids’ Academy (YKA), a bilingual international school in Yene Kell, Senegal, near the Petite Côte (Mbour, Saly, Somone, Ngaparou) and the port of Ndayane. YKA is dedicated to transforming education in Senegal by combining global best practices with a deep appreciation for local culture.

As a Volunteer placed at YKA, you will assist teachers in the classroom, helping children improve their English skills, and support extracurricular activities, games, and creative projects. You will engage directly with students, fostering their curiosity, confidence, and love of learning, while experiencing Senegalese culture first hand and making a lasting impact on their education.

YKA believes that every child has the potential to become a future leader, innovator, or global citizen. By volunteering there, you will help shape these bright minds while gaining valuable teaching experience, cross-cultural understanding, and a truly rewarding adventure.

Accommodation

You will live in an apartment close to the school. Living conditions in Senegal are basic and though you have access to running water and electricity these can be temperamental. You will eat with the local community and have your meals provided by your neighbours.
