You will be teaching English in Mapulaca, a small rural town just a 5-minute drive from the El Salvadoran border.

Your Project

Mapulaca is a small town located in the Lempira department of Honduras. Though rural it has a very friendly and welcoming feel and the locals will go above and beyond to make you feel at home.

You will be teaching Basic English at the local Kindergarten and Primary School, you will be given a timetable and support all age ranges across the school. You will mainly focus on teaching the students conversational English. The school is small with basic teaching facilities so you will need to be proactive and use your imagination to come up with creative and engaging lessons.

You will also be expected to set up extracurricular activities for the school and community, such as art and crafts, music, drama, debating, and sports depending on your skills and experiences.

You will be living with a host family in the town very close to the school. You will share a bedroom with your project partner and have all your meals provided by the family. Living with a local family will mean that you truly immerse yourself in the local community and will give you a unique opportunity to improve your Spanish.

Your living allowance provided by Project Trust will cover your daily living costs.
