India Visa and Travel
General
You will travel together as a country group from a London airport, and it is your responsibility to get yourself to the airport in plenty of time for your international flight. We will send you confirmation once the e-tickets for your international flight have been booked. You are likely to be departing early January. We will arrange for your country group to meet at a designated time and place at the airport on the day of travel. The process will be explained during Training and two of the group will act as our Travel Coordinators, to be the points of contact with Project Trust should there be any issues during travel.
Luggage
It is important to pack as lightly as possible. You need to be able to carry all your luggage by yourself. Everything will need to fit in to a maximum of one checked bag (a large rucksac weighing a maximum of 23kg) and one carry-on cabin bag. It is your responsibility to ensure that you meet all airline requirements, and you will be responsible for paying any excess baggage.
Visa and immigration costs
The costs of Volunteers meeting the legal requirements for entry and long-term stay (visas, permits, etc.) vary considerably between the countries where Project Trust operates. To make this as fair as possible, we ask each Volunteer to make a payment of ยฃ150 to Project Trust as a contribution towards these costs. Payment for entry Visas made by Volunteers before departure from the UK will be included in this cost. e.g. A Volunteer paying ยฃ50 for a Visa before departure will only be asked to make a payment of ยฃ100 to Project Trust, to make up the total of ยฃ150.
Visas / Permits
You will need to apply for a Visa to enter and stay in India, details of what is required will be provided by your Country Coordinator during your training course. Please do not begin the application process until further instructed by Project Trust.
