La Providencia

Nestled in the central mountain of Honduras, you will be working in a bilingual school in the Comayagua Department of Honduras. 

Your Project

La Providencia is located just 5km from Siguatepeque. This rural town comprised of farms and forests is often referred to as ‘garden town.’ It’s situated almost halfway between Honduras’ two largest cities, San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa. The school has stunning views of the nearby mountains. 

La Providencia is a school based in the rural village of Aguas Del Padre. Aguas Del Padre is about 5km from Siguatepeque, the nearest town, and is surrounded by three other villages. The school also has on on-site children’s home who you may be invited to eat with from time to time.

The school is bilingual, and students follow an American curriculum. You may have a variety of roles within the school which include teaching English to a number of age ranges. You may also be required to teach other subjects such as Maths, Science, ICT and PE. There is also scope for you to teach Music, Art, Drama, and other extra-curricular activities depending on your skills and interests. There is the opportunity to get involved in running secondary projects in the local community; teaching families basic English, setting up a choir, sports clubs or helping at the Children’s Home.  

La Providencia is a Christian organisation, you will be required to be sympathetic to the aims and objectives of the organisation and it’s Christian values. You may be asked to take part in Bible classes and morning prayer although you do not need to be a practicing Christian. 

Accommodation

You will live with a in a flat in Siguatepeque and commute to school on the school bus. You will have lunch provided at school but you will be able to cook your own meals in the morning and evening.

Your living allowance is provided by Project Trust will cover your daily living costs.
