By signing this form, you acknowledge the terms of our programme and indicate that you would like to start fundraising. If you change your mind later on, you will still be able to withdraw as long as you tell us.

If you want to know more about any of the key parts of this agreement, we have expanded on what exactly they mean below.

Most Volunteers go to a project in the country listed first on their offer letter. Occasionally this is not possible, in which case we will contact you to discuss and choose a different country. We will not change your country without discussing it with you.

We listed three countries in your offer letter. You should focus on the first country in this list, but we include three options in case the first country becomes unavailable – usually due to situations in the country itself beyond our control. Please make sure you are happy with all three countries in your list and contact us straight away if this is not the case.

If you are interested in Japan or Namibia, you will notice that these are listed second or third. These are ‘Pool countries’ for which we have much higher interest than available places, so nobody is offered these in first place. If a Pool Country appears in your list, you will be considered for Projects in that country when allocations are made.

Your full fundraising target is required for us to cover the costs of your placement. For this reason, we cannot facilitate the placement for you if you have not reached this point before it starts.

We will provide continuous fundraising support to you between now and departure, including regular check-ins and suggestions tailored to you. Coupled with our Access Fund Bursary which can directly contribute towards your fundraising target, we believe that it is possible for Volunteers from all backgrounds to achieve their target. To date almost 9,000 Volunteers have succeeded.

If you have not reached your target by departure, we will not automatically remove you from the programme, but we may delay your departure date or move you to a later cohort to give you time to reach the target. We may be able to offer you a loan agreement or payment plan if you are determined to depart on time.

We are a non-profit charity, rather than a company. This means that you are not paying for a service, but instead we are offering to organise your placement provided that you reach your fundraising target. Your fundraising does not cover the entire cost: we fundraise ourselves to cover core costs and keep your target as low as possible.

This means that any funds you send us towards your target are donations to Project Trust, not payments for a service. We are bound by rules set by the Charity Commission and are therefore not allowed to refund donations made to us.

Gift Aid is money that we can claim back from the government (HMRC) on certain declared donations at no extra cost to the donor. Unfortunately, Gift Aid can only be used towards the “general aims and purposes” of the charity, which excludes specific Volunteers’ fundraising campaigns.

We use Gift Aid to cover core costs, which keeps your fundraising targets as low as possible. You are benefitting from the Gift Aid claimed from previous Volunteers, so please ‘pay it forward’ by declaring Gift Aid where you can, to help the cohort of Volunteers after you!

We only know what you tell us, so please keep us informed of any changes or concerns that you are having. We are here to help, and in many cases you will not be the first Volunteer we have supported through a given challenge or issue.

Additionally, in the six months leading up to your placement, you will be prompted to start completing administrative tasks related to your placement, such as passport checks, medical forms, and visa applications. Delays with these can have a knock-on effect that can ultimately delay your departure date, so it is important to respond and keep us updated about any setbacks or challenges you encounter.
