Senegal Travel & Visa

General

You will travel together as a country group from a London airport during the first two weeks of January. We will confirm the exact details of your flight and send you the e-ticket once it has been booked. It is your responsibility to get yourself to the airport in plenty of time for your international flight. We will arrange for your country group to meet at a designated time and place at the airport on the day of travel. The process will be explained during Training and two of the group will act as our Travel Coordinators, to be the points of contact with Project Trust should there be any issues during travel.

Luggage

It is important to pack as lightly as possible. You need to be able to carry all your luggage by yourself. Everything will need to fit in to a maximum of one checked bag (a large rucksac weighing a maximum of 23kg) and one carry-on cabin bag. It is your responsibility to ensure that you meet all airline requirements, and you will be responsible for paying any excess baggage.

Visa and immigration costs

The costs of Volunteers meeting the legal requirements for entry and long-term stay  (visas, permits, etc.) vary considerably between the countries where Project Trust operates. To make this as fair as possible, we ask each Volunteer to make a payment of £150 to Project Trust as a contribution towards these costs. Payment for entry Visas made by Volunteers before departure from the UK will be included in this cost. e.g. A Volunteer paying £50 for a Visa before departure will only be asked to make a payment of £100 to Project Trust, to make up the total of £150.

Visas / Permits

British nationals do not need a visa to travel to Senegal. However, to stay longer than three months, you will need to register with the local authorities in order to obtain a ‘Carte d’étranger’ (foreigners ID card). Our Senegal Representative will assist you with this process, you will need to take a number of documents to Senegal including a Basic Disclosure and certified copy of your birth certificate.
