You can play an important role in supporting the development of young people outside the formal education setting. While relevant experience is helpful, it is more important that you are a caring and creative person, with the emotional intelligence to support others.
Youth work
With support from experienced youth workers, you will be a mentor and role model for young people who have had a difficult start in life. You will help deliver informal education, sports and other extra-curricular activities.
Social care
With guidance from social care professionals, you will work with young people with additional support needs. This could include providing assistance with daily routines and running fun activities.
