New Roots FAQ’s

New Roots Referral Programme FAQs

1. What is New Roots?

New Roots is Project Trust’s referral scheme. It’s a way for you to share the experience, help someone else begin their journey, and receive a small thank-you in return.

2. How does it work?

  • You’ll receive a unique referral link or code to share with friends or potential Volunteers.
  • When someone applies to Project Trust using your link or code, they’ll name you as their referrer.
  • If the new Volunteer is accepted and officially commits to their placement:
    • They receive £100 in their fundraising pot to help kickstart their journey.
    • You receive a £25 Amazon voucher (or equivalent) as a thank-you.*

We are unable to offer the £25 voucher for referrals that come through a company or organisation.

3. When are the rewards given out?

The £100 for the new Volunteer will be added to their fundraising pot once they accept their placement and start fundraising. The £25 for the referrer will be issued once the new Volunteer has began their placement.

⚠️ If the new Volunteer does not go on placement, the £100 is returned to Project Trust’s core funds, and no referrer reward is issued.

This ensures rewards go to those who fully commit to the experience, while helping Project Trust use funds responsibly and fairly.

4. What if my friend forgets to use my referral link or code?

For a referral to count, the new Volunteer must either apply using your referral link or name you on their application form in response to: “How did you hear about Project Trust?”

If they forget to do this, please contact our Volunteer and Schools Engagement Team as soon as possible at: vase@projecttrust.org.uk

Unfortunately, after 14 days from the application date, we can’t retrospectively add a referral link or code.

5. Can I donate my reward back to Project Trust?

Absolutely! You can choose to ‘pay it forward’ by donating your £25 reward back to Project Trust’s core funds to help support future Volunteers. To do this please let us know when you receive your confirmation email that someone has applied using your link.

6. What if more than one person refers the same Volunteer?

We use the information provided by the applicant on their application form or during their welcome call to confirm who referred them first. Only the first recorded referrer will receive the reward.

7. Can I refer more than one person ?

Of course! Your code can be used multiple times and we’d love you to refer as many young people as possible to spread those roots and keep the Project Trust family tree growing strong.
