Why volunteer with Project Trust?

Experiences of a lifetime since 1967…

A Year with No Gaps

At Project Trust, we provide transformative 12-and-8 month volunteer placements for young people aged 17-25. These placements are life-changing opportunities to immerse yourself in a new country and culture and make meaningful contributions. As a Volunteer you’ll become a valued member of the community, building genuine connections while exploring the richness of your host country during your spare time.

On your return, you’ll carry with you a deeper understanding of the world and yourself, alongside an impressive set of transferable skills that will set you apart.

An Ethical Model

Working with partner organisations around the world, our projects are carefully chosen to ensure that your skills are put to good use in your host community.  Placements are designed to meet community needs and add value and never take work away from local people.

Offering extended placements of 8 or 12 months allows Volunteers to truly immerse themselves in their host communities. This time fosters a profound and lasting cultural exchange through the opportunity to learn the language, participate in cultural festivals and embrace the rhythm of everyday life.

Helping You Stay Healthy and Safe

Through training and pre-departure preparation, you are equipped with the awareness and knowledge required to look after yourself during your time abroad.

You will be looked after by our exceptional support network at Project Trust and in your host country. You’ll be covered by comprehensive travel and medical insurance. Both Project Trust and our Medical Assistance Company operate a 24-hour emergency helpline.

Embarking on a Project Trust placement after finishing school or college is an incredible way to explore the world, gain invaluable skills, grow in confidence, and discover more about yourself.

For many Volunteers, their time with Project Trust becomes a defining chapter, shaping the direction of their future, whether it’s pursuing university, further education, an apprenticeship, or in the workplace.

The skills you develop during your placement play a pivotal role in your personal growth, preparing you for whatever comes next.

A long-term Project Trust placement is the perfect opportunity to develop the skills you’ve learned during your degree, meaningfully contribute to a community abroad and start your career with a truly global outlook.

Our Volunteers go on to become forces for good in a huge range of professions, from education to international development to technology. The transferable skills and global perspective you will gain on a Project Trust placement will help you stand out to future employers, regardless of which career path you choose.
