You will be mainly involved in primary teaching and will teach a range of classes with the main focus on improving the students English. You may also be asked to tutor some of the older students at secondary level. You will follow textbooks and all lessons (apart from Spanish and Social Studies) are taught in English. There will be other western volunteers working at the school (mostly from the US) and the staff are well-tuned to the needs of volunteers, so you will have plenty of support at your project.
As Vida Abundante is a Christian organisation, you would be required to be sympathetic to the aims and objectives of the organisation and Christian values and may be asked to take part in Bible classes and morning prayer although you do not need to be a practicing Christian. The hiking opportunities in and around La Unión are endless.
