More than ever, the world needs motivated young people with the global vision a long-term overseas Project Trust placement offers. However, our ability to continue to offer this life changing experience hangs in the balance as we face a very uncertain future.

The Coronavirus pandemic has had a devastating impact on our activities. We do not currently have Volunteers in our overseas programme placements, we are unable to carry out any face to face recruitment of candidates for future programmes and selected Volunteers are faced with unprecedented fundraising challenges.

The cancellation of major fundraising events, such as the London Marathon, and the extraordinary lengths to which we went in early 2020 to secure the safe return of all our young people from their overseas placements has critically affected our finances.

We have implemented a considerable paring back of expenditure where it has been possible to do so, including exploring opportunities for a digital transformation and taking advantage of the UK government’s financial assistance for employers. However, this will not be enough without your help.

Project Trust is determined to continue providing life-enhancing educational opportunities that empower young people to make a positive impact in local communities across the world and here in the UK. With your support, this can be achieved.

“I think it’s very important that Project Trust survives this crisis because for a significant proportion of teenagers it gives the opportunity to develop their human skills, practical skills, social skills in a way that they wouldn’t have otherwise at a pivotal time in their lives, in a way that’s helping other people. In a time when walls are rising and borders are closing and minds are shutting, the more people we have who are embedded in an understanding that we are all part of the world and that we have to find a way to live together and understand other parts of the world, the better. Project Trust is an amazing organisation for embedding that in the consciousness of people at a very, very important time in their lives.”

A Charity For Life

Since 1967, hundreds of thousands of lives have been positively influenced by over 8,000 Project Trust Volunteers challenging themselves, learning about the world, and being a positive force within it.

The stories shared by our Returned Volunteers are testament to how a placement with Project Trust changes lives. To continue offering the next generation of young people life-enhancing experiences means we need the involvement of our global Project Trust Community more than ever before.

Here’s how. Please consider what monthly donation, legacy, or one-off financial gift you can offer, or what fundraising initiatives you can lead and deliver, or what other forms of support you can provide to help Project Trust.

As part of our Urgent Appeal make sure you also look out for and share stories and updates from across the Project Trust Community. Please share your fundraising efforts with us by getting in touch via alumni@projecttrust.org.uk
