Teaching & Journalism

If you have a keen interest in writing and being involved in all aspects of producing a community newspaper, our Teaching & Journalism project in Namibia provides you with a unique opportunity. In addition to teaching children of various ages in the community, you will have responsibility for producing The Buchter News; a monthly newspaper in the coastal town of Luderitz.

The work includes writing articles, editing, printing, taking photos, booking adverts/sponsors, writing and collecting stories, managing the accounts and delivering papers. This can be demanding and hectic work as the deadline for getting the paper out approaches!

Outside the newspaper office, you will be required to attend meetings, interviews and press conferences. The experience you gain will be an invaluable head start for anyone who wants to pursue a career in writing, journalism or publishing.
